BoopThere uses iOS geofencing (CLLocationManager) to detect when your device enters a radius you define around a saved place. When you arrive, BoopThere surfaces your task list and sends an arrival notification.
Your precise coordinates are used to fire the geofence trigger and are not stored on our servers. We record that an arrival event occurred at a named place and time. We do not record your GPS coordinates.
We request “Always Allow” location permission because geofences must run in the background. Without it, the core product doesn’t work — BoopThere can’t surface your grocery list when you walk into Whole Foods if the app has to be open.
To create an account we verify your phone number. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we also receive your name and the email address Apple provides (which may be a private relay address). We use these to create your account and display your name to your household members. We never use this for marketing or share it with third parties.
The text of your tasks and the names of your saved places are stored on our servers. This data is visible only to members of your household. We do not sell or share the content of your tasks. To provide features you ask for — such as parsing something you capture into a task, or suggesting a recipe — your task text may be processed by our AI providers; it is not used to train their models.
With your permission, BoopThere reads your device calendar (via Apple EventKit, and Google Calendar if you connect it) to surface your upcoming events alongside your tasks. We do not continuously sync or store a copy of your full calendar. When you add a specific event to BoopThere, that event becomes a task — its title and time are stored on our servers like any other task.
When you use a photo feature — scanning your pantry, “Snap it” to add items, or attaching a photo to a saved person, place, or thing — the image is uploaded to our servers and processed by our AI vision provider to identify items. Photos you attach to a saved memory are stored so they appear across your household’s devices. Scanning a printed receipt is processed entirely on your device; that image is not uploaded.
When you use voice capture, your speech may be sent to our servers and transcribed to text by our speech-to-text provider; the resulting transcript is stored as the text of your task or note. On newer devices, transcription can happen entirely on your device. We do not use your audio for advertising or to train third-party models.
We collect aggregate, anonymized product analytics to understand how people use BoopThere. This data is not linked to your identity and is not shared externally. We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs.
We use Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service, to capture crashes and performance problems so we can fix them. This is diagnostics — not advertising or behavioral analytics — and is not sold or shared beyond that purpose.
We store your Apple Push Notification token to send you arrival alerts. This token is used only to deliver notifications from our servers to your device and is never shared with any third party.
All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. We permanently delete all associated data within 30 days.
BoopThere is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact [email protected] if you believe a child has provided us information and we will delete it promptly.
If we make material changes, we’ll notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
